The Business of Show

I'm lucky to have a great team of people working “Class Out The Ass”. My producer, Travis Ramin, who gets me, and works with me to to make my visions a reality. My record label, Rum Bar Records from Boston. Malibu Lou Mansdorf is unusual for a music industry type. He puts everything into his work and is amazing to work with. Kristi Vilinskis at Elephants and Flowers Media is the latest addition, and she's a peach! Now that the album is completed, we are all hustling to get it in the ears of the world…

Making “Class Out The Ass” took more than two years to complete.

The response to “Aloha From Kentucky” in 2022 (also on Rum Bar) was so positive, we started talking about a follow up after a couple of months. We went back and forth with dates and found a week we could all meet back in Lexington, KY at Brian Pulito's studio, “Horse City Hit Club”. All the originals starts returned for a follow up. Nashville Pussy's Canadian lead guitarist and all around goddess, Ruyter Suys, brought her guitars and found a mandolin in town. She played keyboard and sang duet and backups. Nasvhille Pussy frontman and Nine Pound Hammer guitarist and songwriter, Kentuckys poet laureate, Blaine Cartwright came to play and sing. He needs to get credit for coming up with the idea for this country supergroup, so I'm saying it here! Mark Hendricks returned on bass and backing vocals, with Travis Ramin on drums. He's not just a drummer- he produced the whole shebang! KY belter Heather Parrish came through to add her 2 cents and the record is all the better for it.

We cranked out all the basic tracks, duets and backing vocals in Lexington. Travis and I brought the tracks back to Minnesota to track the vocals and add Travis' stardust to it all. I recorded with Tom Herbers in the legendary Kay Bank studio inside Creation Audio in Minneapolis.

Travis sent all the tracks back to Brian Pulito in Lexington and he mixed them. This is one of the great things about modern recording - you can send things back and forth quickly. It still takes a long time for three people to listen and give feedback, though, and to get things mixed again - imagine that a bunch of times in a row…

It took awhile. The admin part of making art can take longer than the creating part.

Lou had Kurt Bloch master the tracks. That was a cherry on top!

The thing we made together and are putting out on the world is the best album I've made. I'm really proud of it, and grateful to the players and to Lou and Krista for helping me get it to the world.

"Who The Fuck Is Raoul Nizzoli"

It's been a labor of love to make this second MGP album

Me and the rest of the players on “Aloha From Kentucky” were high on the response to the release, and asked ourselves “Should make another?”. Nashville Pussy and Nine Pound Hammer were both touring like crazy in summer 2022, since the world had opened back up following Covid shutdown. We were all back in our natural element playing and creating music with PEOPLE again. We asked ourselves is there any way we can make another album - Gather again in Lexington, KY and do a follow up?

We made it work -  we found ONE WEEK! Brian Pulito - Horse City Sound studio owner and engineer - could do it. Georgia and Travis could drive down to KY from MN, Blaine Cartwright and Ruyter Suys were off tour and could drive from ATL and Mark Hendricks from Nine Pound Hammer was available in Lexington. Scott Luallen and Earl Crimm from Nine Pound Hammer were in town and could come sing and play, and Heather Parrish could come and sing backups. The stars aligned! We had a plan…

You know what they say about plans….

Nashville Pussy's road manager/merch manager and beloved member of the Pussy Posse, Raoul Nizzoli, was all for it. Based in Italy, he was not coming to the recording session in Lexington, KY but he busted his ass helping raise some scratch for the project. It was his idea to get posters made of the amazing cover art by legendary Japanese artist Rockin Jellybean, and share them with fans he knew would love them. He did what he did so well, connecting fans with rare memorabilia, benefitting both the band and the fans. It made all the difference in our ability to travel, record and stay in Lexington for a week.

Four days before the recording session was scheduled to begin, just before we hit the road with the plan to converge in KY, the devastating news arrived that Raoul Nizzoli had suddenly and unexpectedly passed away. We were all stunned and heartbroken. Should we continue? Should we cancel? We floundered, in shock and sadness. After talking, we decided to move forward. Music was everything to Raoul, and he worked his magic to make the session possible, so we decided to dedicate the album to him.

“Class Out The Ass” is dedicated to Raoul Nizzoli. We miss you

Random Confessions and Expressions

Love is unlimited

Art is unlimited

I’m a punk forever. My politics, my identity, how I spend my energy, my time and my money. Punk, 50’s and 60’s music, classic county and a love for traditional things with an original approach

Someone’s pure expression is my favorite things in the world – pure and original. Kindness mixed with a take-no-shit attitude learned in my time in big cities like NYC, Philly, Chicago & Pittsburgh

I’m revealing myself in music and hope to be known/understood. Isn’t that what we’re all trying to do in this lifetime we have? All my struggles with what I should look like & acceptance – it starts with me. That’s what happened between “Aloha” & “Class”

Never gone solo before Miss Georgia Peach! Wondered if I was good enough – too old, too fat, unpopular… All the doubts & fears. Pushing through & pushing past. YOLO, Bro!

Health scares and wondering how much time I actually have left in this form. “While we’re young” Still have tons of energy but it’s no longer LIMITLESS.

I’ve achieved every goal I’ve ever set – AIM HIGHER! What’s next??

Traveling the world, sleeping on floors, living in vans, meeting and playing with like minded folks.

I like bravery & sincerity mixed with self-awareness, toughness & above all, sincerity.

Head banging at a basement show is my heart’s home

My love since childhood is country melody with everyone playing in the pocket.

Above all, despite my European pretensions, I am a total American and a Minnesotan – specifically a girl from Saint Paul, I love to travel and try all new things, to experience the world firsthand and come home to the hours I grew up in to regroup between my adventures.

Collaborating with other musicians means everything to me – it’s my life’s blood. As a Minnesotan, I’m not exactly great at being in touch with my feelings and connecting with others. Music allows me to connect with all my collaborators – band and audience.

Miss Georgia Peach Country Origins...

I’ve always listened to and sung country music. My dad was a huge country music fan and so of course I was too. My mom loved Patti Smith and Rock n Roll. I listened to top 40 as a kid, and turned to Oldies Radio in middle school.

My first few years playing in bands, I was in the punk scene and felt that’s where I belonged. When interviewed, I always said my main influences were Patti Smith, Patsy Cline and Dolly Parton. People were confused. I was never confused- it makes perfect sense to me!

Blaine Cartwright, frontman for Nashville Pussy and guitar slinger for Nine Pound Hammer and #1 songwriter was the one who told me I had to sing country…

One night in the 90s we were happily weaving away from Grumpy’s NE after bar close and I started to sing Hank Williams. NP freaked out and never let it go….

Me, my bestie Kerith and my now husband had a rockabilly trio so we gave NP our cassettes for the tour van. They wore them out! Some of those songs were recorded in Lexington, KY for the first album “Aloha from Kentucky”. The 20 or so songs sat unfinished for about 15 years until Covid came along. My record label Rum Bar Recordss outta Boston - who put out my rock band The Short Fuses and Beebe Gallini - asked if we had any unreleased stuff. Travis remembered MGP was still waiting to be finished. Since it was lockdown, Brian Pulito, who recorded and engineered it, had the time to comb through every track, every take and put “Aloha” together – Genius!

We had always wanted to work with the artist Rockin’ Jellybean and again because of Covid, he had time to create the amazing cover art for “Aloha From Kentucky”.

MGP & my solo album came about due to covid lockdown! It was the best seller on Rum Bar and got so much love that we decided to do another! We converged in Lexington again summer 2022 at Brian’s new studio “Horse City Hit Club” and in one week created “Class Out The Ass”. Nashville Pussy and Nine Pound Hammer are busy hard workin bands so it was a specials moment when we could all come together again. The players all fell n together and we cranked out 14 songs in that week.

@honkytonkhell from Richmond, VA painted the velvet painting for the ‘Class” cover. MPG had no Nudie suit, no Manuel so she mad her own “my eyes are up here” signature jacket for the cover.
